PROCON SYSTEMS and OCCIDENS launch LOT-TO-LABEL within the GATE5.0 programme

PROCON SYSTEMS, S.A. and Expertevasion, Lda. (OCCIDENS) are pleased to announce the launch of LOT-TO-LABEL (End-to-End Batch Identification and Logistics Traceability for Agri-Food Products), an innovative project developed within the GATE5.0 programme.
LOT-TO-LABEL aims to design and validate an integrated solution connecting production batches, smart labels and logistics units within a single digital traceability chain. Through the use of barcodes, QR codes and NFC technologies, products will be reliably linked to their batch of origin, certification records and dispatch information, enabling greater visibility and control throughout the supply chain.
The pilot implementation will be carried out in OCCIDENS' real production, packaging and dispatch environment. PROCON SYSTEMS will lead the technical design, development, integration and deployment of the solution, while OCCIDENS will provide the operational use case and validation environment. In addition, Kiwa Sativa Portugal will contribute as an independent certification body, supporting data quality validation and alignment with Regulation (EU) 2018/848 on organic production.
Following the project kick-off held on 27 August 2026, the consortium has now started the Capacity Building and mentoring activities supported by Worsley as part of the GATE5.0 Seed Phase. These activities will help refine the project scope, strengthen the value proposition, shape the business approach and support the preparation of the Seed Phase Video Pitch.
By combining digital traceability, physical labelling and certification data, LOT-TO-LABEL seeks to improve batch visibility, streamline audits, reduce the impact of potential recalls and provide customers and consumers with access to reliable and verifiable information through a Smart Bio Label.
This collaboration brings together industrial digitalisation expertise, agrifood knowledge and independent certification capabilities with the shared objective of transforming traceability into operational value, transparency and trust across the agrifood value chain.
